LG Sinha congratulates University for remarkable Feat

Jammu, Dec 21 (KNO): In a major development, University of Jammu (JU) has been awarded A++ ranking by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The NAAC team, which is on a three-day visit to JU from December-11 to December-13 reviewed the key performance of the higher institution, including curriculum aspects, teaching-learning and assessment, research, innovation and extension, infrastructure and learning resources, student support and progress, governance, leadership and management, and institutional values and best practices. An official informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that “Jammu University has been rated as NAAC A++ accreditation on the basis of academics, infrastructure, activities and other key initiatives.” He said that the university has secured 3.72 points under the institutional cumulative grade point average (CGPA) threshold for getting A++ accreditation. The NAAC team also visited Bhaderwah and Kathua campus of Jammu University. In the meantime, Vice Chancellor JU, Prof. Umesh Rai in a press conference said, “This is a marked improvement over the last accreditation Cycle (Cycle III), wherein it had attained an A+ grade with CGPA of 3.51, thereby exhibiting its commitment to quality sustenance and quality enhancement”. “The A++ grade reflects the unwavering commitment of our faculty, officers, staff, scholars, students, and alumni. It is a testament to our shared vision of transforming the University of Jammu into a global hub for academic and research excellence,” said Prof. Rai. He elaborated on the transformative initiatives undertaken by the University, including the promotion of interdisciplinary research, strengthening academic frameworks, and adopting best practices. “This recognition by NAAC is not just a milestone but a motivation to further our commitment to quality, innovation, inclusivity, and enhancing societal impact,” he emphasized. Prof. Rai acknowledged the support of the Lieutenant Governor and Chancellor, Manoj Sinha; Chief Minister and Pro Vice Chancellor, Omar Abdullah; Higher Education Minister, Sakina Itoo; and Vice Chairman, Higher Education Council Prof. Dinesh Singh. “Their visionary guidance has been instrumental in enabling the University to achieve this remarkable feat,” he added. The Vice-Chancellor also thanked the NAAC Peer Team for their rigorous evaluation and insightful recommendations during their visit. “This is not the culmination of our journey but the beginning of new aspirations to set higher benchmarks in the field of higher education,” Prof. Rai added. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha congratulated the University for this remarkable Feat and extended his congratulations to the Vice Chancellor, faculty, staff, scholars, and students for their dedication and hard work. The LG emphasized that Jammu University’s success is a testament to its reform-driven, futuristic vision. He praised the institution’s focus on academic excellence, goal-oriented research, innovative capacity, and the holistic development of its students. Sinha highlighted that these efforts not only contribute to academic growth but also play a crucial role in shaping enlightened citizens, thus making Jammu and Kashmir proud—(KNO)
